EOBBD stands for Essential Oil Botanically and Biochemically Defined. This rigorous quality standard includes the tracing of each oil lot (geographical origin), botanical description, organoleptic characteristics, extraction mode and full physical and chemical analyses. This is accomplished through several test that classify and identify every compound present within the essential oil.
Gas Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS)
Heavy Metal Test
Oils that have been properly distilled should have no heavy metals. However, to be sure Be Young essential oils are subjected to another Mass Spectrum test which ionizes the samples and evaluates the elemental parts to evaluate the absence of heavy metals.
Organoleptic testing, while not a strict science uses the human senses of sight, smell, taste and touch. For the average person it may be hard to distingush slight changes from oil to oil but for an expert distiller it provides immidiate clues to the acceptability of an essential oil. This testing is used as a preliminary quality control before the GC/MS are conducted.
If any of these signs occur stop the use of the essential oil, apply a carrier oil such as Conveyance (grapeseed) oil to the area to slow down the rate of absorption, and increase your water consumption for the next 24-48 hours.
